Food & Nutrition

The Healthy Aging Program at Atlantic Health System suggests the following helpful resources to assist seniors with their nutritional needs by helping them find home-delivered meals, nutrition centers and sites, grocery shopping services and food pantries.

Home-Delivered Meals

Home-delivered meals are nutritious meals that are delivered to homebound elderly or disabled people. Typically, volunteers deliver a daily meal and provide brief, friendly visitation to participants.

Nutrition Sites

Nutrition sites are centers that serve a sit-down, nutritious meal to seniors in the community. Typically, advance reservations are required and can be made by calling the site 24 hours in advance. Days and times of meals vary from site to site, so be sure to check with the meals coordinator at each location.

Grocery Services

Some organizations provide grocery shopping services for seniors. Local grocery stores may also offer online shopping and home delivery.

Food Pantries

Sometimes, it can be hard to stretch finances to cover the cost of food. Food pantries distribute food to those in need of assistance.
