X-Ray

An X-ray is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. At Atlantic Health System, we offer general X-rays for adults and pediatrics, as well as scanograms – a technique for showing true dimensions  – and scoliosis exams. In addition, we offer sports medicine imaging.

Preparing for an X-Ray

  •  You may be asked to remove some or all of your clothes and wear a gown during the exam.
  • Remove jewelry, dentures, eye glasses and any metal objects or clothing that might interfere with the X-ray images.
  • Women should inform their physician and technologist if there is any possibility that they are pregnant. If an X-ray is necessary, precautions will be taken to minimize radiation exposure to the baby.
  • To avoid delays, remember to bring a copy of your prescription.

X-Ray Results

Atlantic Health System’s radiologists are experts in supervising and interpreting radiology examinations. They will interpret your X-ray images and send a signed report to your primary care physician or the physician who referred you for the exam.

In most cases, X-rays are provided on a walk-in basis. Within our hospitals' radiology departments, services are available 24/7. Those arriving after hours must check in with our emergency departments.
