What is a Stroke?
A stroke, sometimes referred to as a “brain attack,” is a condition where blood flow is blocked to a part of the brain. This results in cell death due to lack of oxygen. If enough brain cells are destroyed, the patient may experience long-term side effects, such as loss of memory and muscle control. Learn more >
Many factors that increase risk of stroke – like high blood pressure, tobacco use and diabetes – can be controlled or treated. Work with health care professionals to develop a healthier lifestyle to reduce your risk.

Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Treatment

This includes telestroke, clot-busting medications and Rapid® automated brain imaging – which allow us to treat strokes with the speed and efficiency needed to improve the chances of a full recovery. Survivors and their loved ones face many challenges after a stroke. Once-simple tasks, like eating, walking or speaking, can be very difficult. Rehabilitation is a critical part of stroke recovery – whether you need intensive inpatient rehabilitation or access to outpatient rehabilitation services while living at home.
Experts at our stroke centers are also available around the clock to treat patients with cerebrovascular disease, a group of disorders affecting the blood vessels in the brain. Learn more about cerebrovascular disease treatment >
