Every second counts during a stroke. The faster a stroke is diagnosed, the sooner treatment can begin, thus preserving more of the patient’s brain function. That’s why Atlantic Health System Neuroscience uses a telestroke robot that combines the latest in telemedicine technology with state-of-the-art navigation to rapidly diagnose potential stroke patients.
Using the telestroke robot's camera and monitor system, an on-call neurologist can connect directly to the patient, family and medical team at the emergency department in a few minutes. Remote physicians can also assess medical imaging to make a fast, accurate diagnosis. Rapid reaction time and treatment can dramatically improve patient outcomes and ultimately save lives and decrease disability.
The telestroke robot is used in the emergency departments at Chilton, Hackettstown, Morristown, Newton and Overlook medical centers as well as Overlook Medical Center – Union Campus.
