Fellows start rotations on August 1, 2025. Rotations are between two hospitals, Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center, within a short driving distance from each other. Fellows will rotate at each hospital one month at a time. A sample rotation schedule with more description is posted below. We expect fellows to identify and start working on research and quality improvement (QI) projects at the start of their fellowship.

Rotation Information

Morristown Medical Center OB (MMC OB)
-
- Two 12-hour day shifts and one night shift weekly at Morristown Medical Center
- During day shifts fellows will take care of labor delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units.
- 7am: Sign-out and resident teaching
- Postpartum rounding
- 9am: Brief meeting with MFM and NICU to access status of all antepartum patients in L&D
- MMC OB/US will incorporate US with MFM in the morning
- Management and deliveries of clinic patients
- Assisting private attendings with deliveries/complications if needed
- Periodic assessment and management of L&D patient flow
- Resident support and teaching
- 7am: Sign-out and resident teaching
- During night shifts fellows will be responsible for GYN service and, in spare time, obstetrics.
- 7pm: Sign-out on L&D
- Assessment and management of gynecologic patients in ED
- Assisting and eventually performing emergent/urgent surgeries
- Obstetric duties identical to daytime duties
- 7pm: Sign-out on L&D
- Monthly resident lecture given by fellows on Thursday didactics at Morristown Medical Center.
- Attendance of monthly lectures given by Chair/Hospitalist
- Continuing work on QI and research projects
- Simulation of OB emergencies

Overlook Medical Center OB (OMC OB)

- Three 12-hour shift days in Morristown Medical Center SICU
- Participating in daily rounding for assigned patient
- Taking responsibility for obstetric patients in SICU
- Lecture for residents on ventilation, internal monitoring, fluid management, etc.
