The Atlantic Health System Rheumatology Fellowship at Overlook Medical Center is a two-year program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, founded in 2023. The program accepts one candidate per year.
The Rheumatology Fellowship Program offers broad exposure to a spectrum of rheumatic, systemic autoimmune and related diseases.
Outpatient experience is primarily at the offices of the Institute for Rheumatic & Autoimmune Diseases while inpatient experience is exclusively at Overlook Medical Center, both in Summit, New Jersey.
Interdisciplinary opportunities are available throughout the campuses of the Atlantic Health System.

Fellowship Director
Elliot Rosenstein, MD, is chief of the Division of Rheumatology at Overlook Medical Center, co-director of the Institute for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases, and associate medical director for Rheumatology for Atlantic Health System.
After graduating summa cum laude from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science in biology, he received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in clinical and experimental rheumatology at New York University (NYU)/Bellevue Medical Center.
He is currently Professor of Medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and is on adjunct faculty at New York University and Rutgers Dental School.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology and a Member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Clinical Immunology Society and American Association of Immunologists.
He has published over 70 scientific articles, monographs and chapters, including the pivotal observation connecting rheumatoid arthritis with the major pathogen in periodontal disease. His research interests include mechanisms of autoimmunity, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s disease and other inflammatory diseases with novel therapeutic agents and approaches.
He has been cited in New York Magazine, Inside Jersey, New Jersey Monthly and in Best Doctors in America.
He was the Founding President of the New Jersey Rheumatology Association. He had been on the Board of Directors of the Arthritis Foundation-New Jersey Chapter and is also on the Medical Advisory Board of the Scleroderma Foundation—Delaware Valley Chapter and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lupus Foundation of America-New Jersey Chapter. He was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Arthritis Foundation.

Associate Program Director
Neil Kramer, MD, is co-director of the Institute for Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases and associate medical director for Rheumatology for Atlantic Health System.
After graduating from Williams College, he received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at New York University/Manhattan VA Medical Center, and he completed his fellowship in clinical and experimental rheumatology at New York University/Bellevue Medical Center. He established a division of rheumatology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center while on the faculty at Rutgers—New Jersey Medical School.
He is currently Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Stanley Kimmel Medical School at Thomas Jefferson University.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. He served on the American College of Rheumatology Task Force on Alternative Therapies. He has published over 50 scientific articles, monographs and chapters. His research interests include mechanisms of autoimmunity and treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases with novel therapeutic agents. He is on the scientific advisory board of the New Jersey Chapter of the Lupus Foundation. He is a past president of the New Jersey Rheumatology Association.
