The curriculum at Overlook Medical Center’s General Practice Residency in Dentistry includes both formal and informal lectures, hands-on instruction and demonstrations, and extensive varied clinical experiences, including pre- and post-treatment analyses of cases. Didactic and clinical experiences span all areas of general and specialized dentistry, including highlights in:
- Endodontics
- Orthodontics
- Dental emergency management
- Hard and soft tissue surgeries
- Implant dentistry
- Restorative technique/crown and bridge
- Cosmetic dentistry
- Complex oral rehabilitation
- Treatment planning of complex cases
- Dental care needs of various populations, e.g., children, the elderly, developmentally disabled, medically compromised
- Operating room dental care
Every effort is made to tailor instruction to the residents’ needs and interests, and feedback is strongly encouraged. In addition to the experiences already described, specific rotations are included in:
- Emergency Department (one week)
- Family Practice/Physical Diagnosis (one week)
- Anesthesiology (two weeks)
