Atlantic Health System invites you to explore our diverse range of support groups designed to assist individuals facing health challenges and their caregivers to find belonging.

Bariatric Surgery Support Group

Third Tuesday of the Month; 6:00pm – 7:00pm 

The bariatric surgery programs at Atlantic Health System host a virtual support group for patients who plan to or who have undergone any type of bariatric surgery.  Support groups, facilitated by a bariatrician, dietitian, or behavioral health specialist, focus on a specific topic each month and feature a Q&A session.  Time is also allotted for participants to be able to share and support other attendees.

The Bariatric Surgery team of providers at Atlantic Health System host a support group for patients who have had bariatric surgery. Our support group range in topics moderated by our expert bariatric surgery providers, psychologist, dietitian. Participating in support groups enables patients to stay highly motivated through sharing and supporting discussions.

Glasser Brain Tumor Center Caregiver Support Group

First Tuesday of the Month; 5:00pm - 6:00pm

This monthly virtual group is for the closest caregivers and family members of individuals who are diagnosed with a brain tumor. The group is moderated by clinical social work and medical professionals, and offers a safe space to make connections and share thoughts and feelings.

Glasser Brain Tumor Center Support Group

Third Thursday of the Month; 5:00pm - 6:00pm

This virtual group offers a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings with others who understand your experience. The group also includes presentations by experts with advice on a variety of topics and an “ask us anything” segment where your questions are fielded by a doctor and nurse practitioner. One family member or friend is invited to participate with you.

Atlantic Health's Cancer Support Group

Second Wednesday of the Month; 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Join our in-person cancer support group for individuals who have been newly diagnosed and are within their first year of treatment. Connect with others who are also coping with cancer treatment, share information and resources, and gain insight and tools to help manage the emotional impact and challenges of cancer.

Dementia Caregiver Support Group

One Friday per month (dates below); 10:30am - 11:30am

2025 Dates: January 3, February 7, March 7, April 4, May 2, June 6, July 11, August 1, September 5, October 3, November 7, December 5 

A group for caregivers of loved ones with a dementia diagnosis (such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and frontotemporal dementia). This group provides a safe space to share your experiences and gain insight from others. During this time, caregivers can also learn more about the diagnoses, stages and progression, long-term planning, and resources available to them.

Adult Type 2 Diabetes Support Group 

First Tuesday of the Month; 6:00pm – 7:00pm 

Join our online support group and share your experiences with our Atlantic Health System certified diabetes education specialist team and others who have type 2 diabetes.   

The support and encouragement you will receive from your peers plays a key role in helping you adjust to the many changes experienced. We offer support group meetings and education classes to all of our patients living with diabetes for an opportunity to compare challenges and successes regardless of the length of time you've been living with diabetes.

Heart Failure Support Group

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group

Fourth Monday of the month; 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Managing multiple sclerosis (MS) may sometimes seem like an uphill battle, but finding a network of support can be helpful in maintaining a positive outlook on life.

To that end, Atlantic Health System Neuroscience's Multiple Sclerosis Center offers an MS support group where patients can share their experiences and concerns, while learning more about their condition and finding emotional comfort.  The group meets on the Fourth Monday of every month, from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Overlook Medical Center in Conference Room 1.

Morris County Ostomy Support Group

Third Wednesday of the month; 7:00-9:00pm

The Morris County Ostomy Association holds monthly meetings. The meetings consist of an informal gathering of ostomates and individuals who may be contemplating ostomy-related procedures. The evening also involves an informal talk by a physician, ostomy resource specialists or ostomy vendors. Family and friends are always welcome.

Stroke Survivors Support Group (Virtual)

Third Thursday of the Month; 2:00pm -3:00pm

A virtual support group for stroke survivors to share lived experiences of navigating stroke recovery. Group members can expect a welcoming environment to connect with other survivors and learn about community resources available to them. Facilitated by a clinical social worker with occasional guest speakers presenting on stroke-related topics. Open to survivors of all ages and phases of recovery. Registration is required.
