Following a successful Your Care, Our Future capital campaign, the Newton Medical Center Foundation is tackling our next fundraising initiative – raising $1 million toward a $6,606,500 investment in Newton Medical Center’s Oncology Expansion Project at Sparta.

Every patient’s journey and treatment are unique, but care rendered with clinical excellence in a warm, compassionate environment; ease of access to that care; and strong provider relationships that facilitate a flow of timely communication are important elements of care that contribute to a more positive experience for oncology patients.

The current Atlantic Medical Group (AMG) Oncology office, located in the Sparta Wellness Center, cannot accommodate expansion in its present state. Additionally, renovation and expansion of the current state-of-the-art Sparta oncology and outpatient infusion center will create the capacity needed to continue to grow the hematology oncology program in the western region.

Components of the project to be completed in the Sparta Health & Wellness facility include:

  • Creation of a new USP 800 dedicated mixing pharmacy for preparation of chemotherapy drugs and potentially hazardous compounds
  • The addition of one new Physician and one additional Nurse Practitioner to the onsite oncology practice
  • Renovation and expansion of the infusion center, including the addition of four infusion bays for a total of nine infusion bays and one private treatment room

This important project will enhance the treatment experience and quality of life for all who receive care at the Newton Medical Center’s Outpatient Infusion Center and AMG Medical Oncology.

Additionally, the Newton Medical Center Foundation is currently raising funds to grow a newly established Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, which is modeled after similar funds established at the other Atlantic Health System hospitals.

Financial barriers to cancer care can have devastating consequences for patients, families, and communities. The Oncology Patient Assistance Fund will help combat healthcare inequality and provide vital assistance to vulnerable members of the community, helping patients and families with some relief from financial hardships when they need it most. This fund will help reduce delays in care and promote successful treatment for the best possible outcomes.
